When viewing the details of a trail, or editing a trail, show a live elevation profile graph that displays elevation vs. distance from the start.

Possibly allow it to be resized and moved.

It would be necessary for an individual or group to have a printed copy of a trail before going on it.

Allow a place for comments / discussion / message board / whatever for indivudal trails so people can discuss / comment on them.

Color the trails on the map based on the type (biking, hiking, road biking, ... )

The landmarks can be referred to in the trail description

Allow multiple trails to exists individually, but to be combined after the fact into a collection as a super trail

Allow users to pick a point on any trail to start a new trail from that point with a new name. Allow the trail to have splits and joins in it so each trail is really a network instead of a line of points

The more users that link to, edit, save a particular trail, the brighter is shows... so main trails are easier to idendify against random loop trails some users create

Add a clone or split tool so a custom route that travels through 3 or 4 trails can easily be turned into 3 or 4 seperate trails

For many of us, ".6 miles" is more useful than "1050 yards".

Allow searches (search parameters) to be saved to a user account and linked to directly so a search can be sent via a link in an email.

Allow Searches and Trails to be embedded (with a chosen size) into web pages and blogs.

Allow users to grab an RSS feed of both Watch Zones and arbitrary searches
